Taste

Alongside chocolate, the first sip carries a hint of smokiness from the barrel. The mid-palate dances on the hazy border between chocolate liqueur and sweet sherry (Pedro Ximenez). The long, lingering finish gradually shifts from sweet and liqueur-like to drier and drier. This legendary brew has enough body, alcohol, and depth to age gracefully in the cellar for many years.

Nose

Already upon opening the bottle, sweet, raisiny aromas fill the air. Bringing the glass to your nose reveals rich chocolate notes, backed by distinctly roasted oak and, somewhere in the distance, jammy overripe red berries.

Appearance

Dark brown beer with a texture thicker than average, topped with a golden-brown, finger-thick head that lasts long and leaves a beautiful lacing on the glass.
